I spent a half an hour of my time in the Husky Lounge. Although that half an hour was spent waiting in the ridiculous long lines to get my food. There I realized that most students rush to the Husky after their class gets out to grab some lunch. That makes the lines endless. Most of the students spent about 15 to 20 minutes waiting in line for their food and then after they waited about 5 minutes to pay for their food. While I was there I started noticing how many people take their food to go. I have never really noticed that before but since we talked about it in class that made me really curious. By the time I got my food and paid for it I went to go sit down. I then looked around at all the tables and everyone who was there was eating with at least one other person. If they were eating by themselves they were sitting towards the back where no one else could see them. Most of the tables were either filled with all girls or all boys, but there were some that had a mix of both girls and boys. While they were eating they were talking about their day and other things that were going on in their life. When they were done eating I noticed that they didn't leave, they stayed and talked with each other. I then thought do I do this too? As I was thinking I realized that I do. I guess this is because we all have such busy schedules, so when we all get the chance to see each other we spend a lot of time together. From this I can conclude that eating is a way in which college students socialize. We might not always have time to do things together, but eating is something that we all have to do, so we all eat together.
